Siegwerk has launched an EB curing ink series for offset printing, which is said to be particularly suitable for flexible packaging.
Offset printing inks are used in many flexible packaging and label applications, such as shrink film, wraparound labels, and IML, and UV curing inks are successfully used in many cases. By using electron beam (EB) curing, the converter can avoid the use of photoinitiators in energy-curable inks and reduce the risk of potential migration problems.
The new ink technology is developed in accordance with relevant product safety standards. All ingredients comply with strict Swiss regulations and will also comply with the upcoming new German regulations. With its new EB offset inks, such as EB 705, Siegwerk stated that it enables flexible packaging printers to obtain the advantages of offset printing in shorter print job lengths, including the low cost of printing formats and shorter set-up times, allowing faster Convert the print job.
Industrial printing tests conducted on Comexi’s CI8 central imprinting EB offset press showed that Siegwerk’s new EB technology provides "excellent printing performance, low dot gain, low water dosage, less emulsification and scum", and Quickly restore strength after stopping. The new ink technology is applicable to various plastic substrates in the flexible packaging market, such as co-extruded OPP and acrylic coated PET.
